
Esports Code of Conduct
By participating in STEM Minds Edsports Tournaments, all players are expected to conduct themselves, before, during, and after competition, and in their interactions with competitors, teammates, spectators, event organizers, volunteers and employees in a manner that promotes the values of fair play and honest competition.
The Code of Conduct
All participants will:
a. Act in an honest and ethical manner at all times, including during gameplay, between matches, and before and after competition;
b. Respect the physical and emotional well-being and dignity of teammates, competitors, coaches, and other staff;
c. Respect the policies and rules of STEM Minds and the legitimate authority of a coach, other team official, referee, or other tournament official;
d. Compete in a manner that upholds the principles of ethical play and honest competition, and a positive, inclusive environment;
Misconduct
Inappropriate behaviour or misconduct by a player, team, staff, volunteer, or other official requires STEM Minds to take appropriate disciplinary actions. The following behaviours and actions will result in a breach of the Code of Conduct and will not be tolerated, resulting in disciplinary actions against the offending player:
a. Expresses themselves in an offensive manner towards other players or their actions in game (including, but not limited to, “griefing”, taunting, bragging, mocking, etc), whether they be a teammate or opponent;
b. Uses offensive language, nicknames or other expressions that insult another’s gender, gender identity, origin, physical ability, sexual orientation, religion or age;
c. Uses threatening or violent language, actions, or expressions towards another player, teammate, spectator, volunteer, or employee;
d. Cheats or hacks;
e. Shares private information that puts themselves, teammates, or other players at risk;
f. Harrasses other players, team members, spectators, volunteer, or employee;
g. Offends the dignity or integrity of a country, private person, or group of people through contemptuous, discriminatory, or denigratory words or actions on account of race,
ethnicity, socioeconomic status, ability status, gender identity, language, religion, political opinion or any other opinion, sexual orientation, or any other reason.
Disciplinary Actions
Should a player breach the Code of Conduct, one or more of the following disciplinary actions will take place. Disciplinary actions are normally progressive in nature. However, the circumstances and severity of the behaviour may result in more immediate action should it be deemed necessary by STEM Minds.
The following disciplinary actions may be imposed on a player who breaches the Code of Conduct:
a. Verbal warning;
b. Written warning;
c. Match forfeiture;
d. Tournament probation (for both the player and team);
e. Tournament suspension (for both the player and team);
f. Expulsion from future tournaments;
